Last bottle of this absolutely spectacular bottle from Tempier. 95 percent Mourvedre and you won't ever find a better example of that grape variety. Long and deep, but also light on its feet with beautiful fruit and balance. Tannins are fully resolved. Paired perfectly with a roasted half duck with just a few cranberries on the side. Bravo to Daniel Ravier, whom I had the pleasure of seeing again at Bleu Provence in Naples, Florida, and his team.
UWS; A mixed set of wines (@ JB): Earth, herbs and spices and coffee in the mature bouquet. On the palate chocolate, earth, mushrooms and sweet licorice. Very mature and also very beautiful. Very nice acidity and a good length. Very beautiful wine.

A two-hour decant wasn't enough. The wine felt a bit heavy, slightly alcoholic and metallic. After four hours, these "negatives" fell away and the wine began to drink beautifully paired with a New York strip. Tempier really is the "First Growth" of Bandol/Provence. The 97 has a long way to go as does the 98. Bravo to Daniel Ravier and Company.

Another lovely bottle. It doesn't seem to have evolved at all since my bottle and TN in 2016. Excellent.
