Northern Rhone-a-thon: This pours medium garnet. The nose is remarkably youthful on this pristine bottle. Fresh blueberry, vague sweat, flint, bay leaf, leather, and a lightly rubbery reductive character. The palate is deep and rich with loads of lush, dried blueberry and a very mineral core. The finish is classically Northern Rhone with just a little alcohol poking out. While this wine was very enjoyable it was perhaps a tad oddly young. Not my favourite of the night but I think others liked it more than me.

Jamet and Rostaing at the Harwood Arms (Harwood Arms, Fulham): Medium/deep garnet/mahogany. Initially a little tired and stewed, this pulled itself together nicely with time in glass with florals, savoury game and underlying red fruit. Medium bodied on the palate. all savoury red fruits and florals, quite delicate and elegant with soft tannins, vibrant acidity and a very good length lightly grippy finish. Excellent, drinking well.

HDH December auction; 12/13/2018-12/15/2018 (Chicago, IL): Never been a huge Rostaing fan, but this is a really good one. Served blind, I'd have picked this to be far younger. Lots of generous fruit, there's an incredibly delicious attack here. Good earthiness.

Rare Northern Rhone Birthday - 1991: Overripe and rather opulent with bright red cherry fruit, gives up a few savory and spicy notes with air play. Robust and syrupy red berry fruit on the palate. Good, enjoyable, but lacking the complexity of the other wines in this outrageous lineup.

Nose is not very clean. Palate shows dark fruit and herbs.
