Purchased at the producer one month ago. All of the primary fruit has transitioned to tertiary. Faint ripe red cherry, with mostly dried cherry, pipe tobacco, potpourri, tar, damp forest floor, charred wood, vanilla, baking spice. Around 4-6 years past what would be my preferred drinking window, when there was more ripe primary fruit. Plenty of complexity remaining. Deep ruby-amber color. M+ acid. M+ tannins that are ripe, and have softened to be a fine powdery texture. M/M+ intensity. Body is M+, with a light weight on the palate. The acid is a little too sharp and the alcohol is a little too high. The finish is M-. Good, and would be very good with more integrated acid and integrated alcohol. Not suitable for further aging.

Seems past. Could be the cork - was dry and crumbly. Almost a root beer like quality to it. A bit flat, but seemed hot with alcohol. Not complex at all.

Perfect timing. Very dry at first, softened significantly after 30 mins decanting.

Past its time. Fruit has faded. Still has some backbone, but nothing on the front to balance it out. No change over two nights.

Takes some time to open. Early on it’s grippy and unbalanced, but with patience it comes around. Interesting evolving nose. Still on the young side.
