Marc and MJ's - great food and nice wines (Bellingham, WA): Quel merveilleux plaisir de boire une vieille bouteille de Moulin-à-Vent. Le bouchon était difficile à retirer, et complètement fragmenté. Terreux fruits rouges dense de cuir, de thym, et de chocolat noir. Il dévoile une bouche souple, douce comme le velours.

This was still alive and kicking in 2013: Bright and fresh red fruit still there, albeit some development and VA at this point. Moss, dried flowers, leather. The minerality, acid, and overall structure has generally held up well, I was surprised. A nice example of aged cru beaujolais. It's making its exit, however -- drink by 2014.

Opened one hour in advance. Some VA on first opening, dissipates over time. Tart aromas of red fruits and licorice. Thin flavors of green apple, cinnamon and cherry. Rich, long cinnamon finish.
This was nice but perhaps past its prime. No depth on the front end and the fruit was largely MIA The finish was a different story and did make up for a lot.
From a private cellar via Chambers Street Wines.
