  • OMG, just blown away by this wine. Opened my last bottle and decanted. I tried some right away and the nose is sooooo fragrant and the nose is full of perfume, flower shop, and candy store, Wow! The color is deep red and shows very little signs of aging. The mouth is full of dark black fruits, blackberry, a bit of licorice, Dr, Pepper, and some chewy tannins. The wine gets better after an hour decant if you can get it to last that long. I am a big fan of right bank Bordeaux and this taste like it's in that league. This wine held up very well.

  • Pomerol night (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Not Pomerol. Weirdly high-toned aromatics, with a lactic and kirsch note simultaneously. On the palate, thinly flavoured and textured, with a very unpleasantly high amount of bitterness and alcohol on the finish. Not surprised on the reveal; it was pretty clear to me there were poor stylistic choices being made here.

  • From our cellar. Bottle 5 of 6. Best showing of this wine yet and boy, is it in a wonderful spot. Perfect example of just how good a merlot can be. The fruit, the mineral, the herbs and spice, all come together nicely....nothing taking front seat. Super smooth, complex, exceptional balance, long finish, and sensational with food. This is some fabulous nectar. Drink now-2025 95

  • Despite being a 2003, took about two-three hours to open up. Very pleasant, paired with pasta. Was concerned this was past it's prime but seems to be holding up pretty well.

  • Similar notes as previous tastings in 2017. Lots of dark fruits in the nose and flavor. Blueberries, black cherries, currants, blackberries, chocolate, and a touch of spice in the nose. Black cherries. blackberries, black raspberries, chocolate, and a touch of spice in the flavor. Well balanced, medium to full bodied, and a medium to long finish.

Washington Wine Report

  • By Sean Sullivan
4/21/2009, (See more on Washington Wine Report...) ***** points

(Quilceda Creek Merlot Columbia Valley) Extremely dark in color. A perfumed nose with lilacs, incense, black, syrupy fruit, green peppercorns, and a potpourri of spices. A gorgeous, elegant taste with grainy yet soft tannins. Dense and compact yet beautifully balanced. Lots of blackberry emerges on the nose and blackberry pie on the tastes. Give three plus years. 88% Merlot; 12% Cab Franc. Champoux and Tapteil vineyards. 14.9% alcohol. 400 cases produced. Sampled at 63 degrees.
