En Magnum. Woah what a overperformer.. Reductive, nutty, lemon curd and minerals/saline. This is quite beautiful and interesting today, not a blockbuster for sure. It’s really refined, elegant, almost fleeting but with good nuance and tertiaries. Probably hitting its peak. Vougeraie really performing today, lip smacking!

I threw this 2011 Domaine de la Vougeraie Vougeot 1er Cru Blanc in a blind tasting as a curve ball. The three tasters I served blind to went all directions, Puligny, Chassagne and Meursualt. A couple months back my friend served this wine blind to me and I thought it was a Grand Cru Puilgny Montrachet from an ‘okay’ producer. Note: Saline minerals with broad white fruits. Grand Cru viscosity with some heat. Made by Pierre Vincent (now at Domaine Leflaive), his whites certainly outshines his reds. (90-91/100)

Clear, perfect golden brass with white rim, with very slow perfectly-spaced perfect little tears. Clean, full intensity, with aromas of green gage, quince, pears, pineapples, clover, and lemon. Dry, med body, med+ acidity, med alcohol, no tannins, with further tastes of gooseberries, red apples, perfect oak, Maldon salts and lemons. Fantastic long finish

There’s some spearmint and almond cream. It is layered, full and long, with something cool and floral lurking just below the flesh.
