What Aaron Pott did with this vineyard in a subpar vintage is borderline magic to my palate. Sandalwood, bay leaf, loam, cherry pipe tobacco, red currant, and a kiss of very smoothed out Rutherford dust dance in perfect harmony after 45 minute decant. No reason to hold this much longer - enjoy now

Wine of the year so far (out of a mag). Just in a perfect place, and an example that good wines came out of 2011. Nice tannic grip that eased as the night went on. Perfectly balanced, long velvety finish, and enough complexity to keep each glass interesting. Lovely.

Decanted for 4 hours then drank over the next 4. Alcohol burnt off over the last 2 to 3 hours. Strong notes on the nose of blackberries, blueberries, leather, jammy with a sweetness that resolves to a mineral texture through the mid palate. Tannins are still relatively present. Finish could be longer. 93 to 94.

PnP and into the decanter. A bit of funky stewed fruit on opened but disappeared quickly. Bright red fruited beauty, red cherry, sour cherry, spice, a bit of dusty tannin, sweet pipe tobacco. Somewhat restrained, more than a hot year in BDX but less than most years in Napa. Good balance, though a bit tart on the finish. Oak at bay, plenty of acid to go a few more years.

PNP with 1/2 drunk on a Friday night and the other half on a Monday night and in between in the fridge with the cork in. Wine is approachable and fruit more than adequate and bright and not overly acidic or herbal....vivid purple and really quite tasty. If you did not know the vintage, you would likely not guess
