  • Forgot all about this vin natural Chinon until I saw latest tasting note on CT so grabbed second to last bottle and gave it a whirl - whoa there is a blast of funk on P&P but not off putting to the adventurous.

Poured into container and settled in. Have to admit I was fearing for the worst but this wine is solid and is Loire cab franc all the way. Little surprised that it has held up this long but CF is pretty sturdy stuff and ages so well. Really dark, mature fruits and a decent amount of earth and funk to keep it interesting - plenty of zip left in this wine as well. Looking forward to last bottle.

  • Still has some freshness with some upfront funk. Plenty of earth and minerality. A nice wine. No doubt you've got a glass of the Loire in your hand. Has at least plateaued, so drink up. 87+

  • Seemed slightly flat and muted, like it's over the hill, but my palate could have been off due to a cold. Technical score: 88. Enjoyment score: 87.

  • Nice weeknight QPR. Took about 45-min to open up so I recommend decanting, and it was much better with food. Overall, much more accessible than 32 months ago. Dried cherries, leather, herbs, and mushrooms on the nose. I did not get a lot of brett. The palate is medium-large, square, and quenching, bringing chocolate raspberries, tart cranberries, tobacco, V8 juice, soy sauce, and cherry pie into the finish, which brings refined tannins. Good acidity means it should last through the medium-term. Drink before 2020.

  • Very good. i think this is better than the '10 or '12 LGaB Chaussee in that there is more depth of fruit here, and a deeper core of minerals. I don't remember the difference b/w the cuvees, but this seems like a more serious effort. Very typical Loire that would match with just about any food.
