first bottle in 15 years, this wine was really nice, no issues with green, although it was very forest and leaves. it has matured, and was nice with roast chicken, you tasted freddy in the lightness with intensity… however i am not sure i see value. no hurry to drink my bottles.

Clos de la Marechale Vertical (Decatur, GA): Duller red with rusty rim; beef broth nose with powerful green and iron notes, lots of clay, sanguine, dried roses, getting greener with air initially but something suggests this may improve with extended aeration.

Not sure about the tasting notes before this. When I bought these, they were the greenest 2004 red burgs I had ever tasted. I saved 1 bottle for a Marechale vertical, which took place yesterday, all vintages from 2004-2019 and a '76 and '85 from Faiveley along with '10 and '15 whites. While the greenness did decrease significantly with time, it was still present and was actually not the worst aspect. This wine was thin, a bit acidic, disjointed and not pleasant fruit. Overall, among the worst 2 of the vertical. Sorry, Freddy.

(Clos Marechale MUGNIER) Grab Bag Dear Friends, I normally save something like this for a Friday afternoon but I've been in tastings all day and this list of confirmations just came through (it's nearly 4:00am here). After today's exercise, I can say with humility that the excitement of a new vintage still gets my blood pumping. The lifelong process of understanding the truth in wine leads us through a vinous treasure hunt that never ceases to amaze me... Which brings me back to today's offer You can throw darts at the list below - all are more than worth owning and the prices are about as enticing as I've seen. I don't have access to scores or pricing data so you will have to do some research on our own but, I do know, the prices are very low... Hmmm - this one was for sure over the top. Lost fruit and fresness. Pruny and not much life left.
