Glorious, yet again. Caramel, chestnut, raisin with all the depth you could hope for; totally enveloping. There's nothing quite like that sweet caress of very old Madeira. mid-high 90s

Decanted for 48 hours prior to consumption. Huge nose, with liquid honey, citrus, and sorghum on the first taste. Floated rather than enveloped the tongue. Subsequent hints of almond, apricot and vanilla. This was a group tasting, and all parties found it to be a rare treat. The wine looks Light brown colored. The legs are Slow. It smells like Orange, and Apricot. It tastes like Orange, and Apricot. The body is Light/Medium. The wine has Satin-like texture. The wine finishes Long.

Amazing persistence for an 1863! Raisin, plum, prune, caramel, toffee. Still lots of body.

The Matriarch of Madeira, A Tribute to Dona Manuela Barbeito (Bar Boulud, NYC): While the 1892 Bual was plump and filled with dried fruit flavors, this had a bit leaner profile: tanned leather, cognac, and tea leaf. A different, more svelte expression of Bual, but equally delicious.
