Mid garnet to orange-y rim Lifted aromas of raspberry, blackberry with a sweet marshmallow character, plenty of liquorice and rich oak. As the wine evolved in glass, there is more caramel toffee and tobacco. Very charming. Gorgeous luxuriant entry with a Zinfandel sweetness to it, great fruit intensity and concentration. Packed with tertiary notes alongside rich, marinated fruits, plum, liquorice, cassis and soy. Rich in texture with a creamy soft centre and sweet tannins, the wine is persistent in the mouth. Excellent. really enjoyed. Definitely better than the January bottle.

Mid-Deep garnet towards an orange rim. Intense bouquet of dried spice, stewed, marinated red plums, cassia bark with a relatively high tone acetone note. The entry has a sweetness and heat to it with dried chilli pepper, red peppercorns and a compote of red & black plums. Good depth of flavour and a crushed velvet texture there is medium+ acidity that balances out the sweetness of the Pinotage fruit. Broad in shape, quite a long finish with dense, powdery tannins. The wine seems to have a slight sour prune element and dried fruit along with heat and chilli spice that permeate the wine. In one sense, I found it added complexity, but it did seem to mask some of the subtle elements in the wine. As the wine evolved in glass there is more undergrowth, dried bush. I wonder if the wine was slightly scalped or slightly overripe? Seems to be just hanging in there.

A rehabilitation for Pinotage in my eyes. Big, Crunchy tannins balanced by bags of acidity. Crushed berries on the palate, a little vanilla sweetness and sour cherry. A broad palate with a long, velvety finish.
