  • Deep pitch purple. Mostly Opaque. A bit dusty. Holds color to the rim. strong limpidity with strong legs forming on the glass. Rich Bouquet. Perfumed fruit. Spiced red and black cherry and raspberry. Theres also a bit of tar or leather and pencil shavings in the bouquet. Elements of cedar. Has the impression of alcohol on the nose. Haven't tried yet but will be interesting to see if this is over balanced to the alcohol.

Palate is nice. Full mouth feel. REally lights up all taste centers and lingers right in the mid palate. Bunch of stuff going on. Spice Cherry persists. Supple leather texture with those notes of tar. Theres a faint background of Vanilla trying to soften the overall experience. It's contered with what seems to be strong tannins, acidity and alcohol. I would put this at 14.5. Yup, just looked. 14.5.

Balance is good especially considering all the stuff going on here and the power it packs. Not an easy job to convey a balanced expression throughout but it pretty much does. For some it will be too much on the dry/acidic and tannic side so if you don't like that, stay away. Finish is good. It holds up and lingers. No strange after taste or breakup.

  • Very consistently good Rhone Valley wine. Full bodied on the tongue - definitely a wine you can sit and savor. Lilac and raspberry on the palate. Some sunflower on the nose. Really solid wine at a great price.

  • Soft, but persistent nose of cedar/violets. Palate with light plum and red apple flavors, with 3/5 acidity and tannins. Finish is medium length and adds a little more tannins and spice. Went well with roasted chicken, but not well with pepperoni pizza-a very muted fruitiness. 4/5 overall rating.

  • Better after 15 minutes. Med-Full bodied. Notes of blueberries, but the black pepper / spice is at the forefront of this wine. Definitely a food wine. Unique for weekday, but I wish it had better balance.
