  • This was clear and deep red in colour with a nose of dark berries and some bacon. In the glass were those same flavours mixed with a surprisingly strong amount of pepper. The tannins and acidity were both noticable but in very balanced levels with the wine. I would never have known that this is almost 16% alcohol.

  • Wow, this wine was fantastic tonight. Very deep purple in colour with a nose of cherries and red berries. The wine was clear and had subdued flavours of ripe red cherries and some caramel. The tannins and acidity were perfectly balanced and the wine did not feel at all like a 15.7 % alcohol bottle. Everything was in perfect balance and this was right up there as a wine of the year candidate for me.

  • Decanted 2½ hours after opening. A little smoky but still muted after an hour in the decanter. Fragrant, minty, and elegant. Still a little young, with sweet fruit but not too overboard, and very soft. After 1½ hours in the decanter - and 4 hours after opening - this was showing more dried herbs and more complexity.

  • Decanted/tasted over 5 hours. Boysenberry, blueberry, and roses/flowers on the nose, but a fair bit of heat also. Not as complex aromatically as SQN syrahs I've tried (Touché and Hated Hunter). Full-bodied and chewy, with a good finish, but I think I would have enjoyed this more 5 years ago. I'd say drink up if you have any left. Not worth the secondary market price tag for me... I like the label/bottle more than the contents. But c'est la vie!

  • What a fruit bomb! Won WOTN against 7 other wines. Decanted 5 hours, then brought back to room temp — and very sensitive to temperature. Too cold, and it’s totally muted. Recommend letting it get to 65+

This wine keeps giving with layers of integrated fruit. Drinking so well now!
