  This is incredibly exciting wine, giving a very precise strawberry and black currant fruit, balanced by just the right amount of acidity. The whole thing is clean and clear and delicious. You shouldn’t be able to confuse this with burgundy - it has a sweetness that I have never found there, but this is a real head-turner that you should definitely try.
  
  P.S. the label is truly awful, Herr Huber.

  fresh and bright cherry and strawberry, a drop of peppermint, pine with cinnamon and supple tannin. Green leaves and undergrowth. Clean and mean. Crystal clear. A baby!

  We decanted the wine for two hours and followed its development over another two, then poured the remaining wine back into the bottle and consumed it the next day. The wine was medium to light ruby in colour and offered red fruit, red cherry, iodine, spices, vanilla, liquorice, smoke and roasted notes on the nose. On the palate the wine showed red fruit, strawberry, raspberry, red cherry, vanilla, liquorice, smoke, a hint of coffee and roasted notes, with medium-plus acidity, medium-level tannin, a creamy mouthfeel and superb length. As expected, this Pinot Noir was very young, the acidity still seemed a little tart and the oak was still prominent on nose and palate, but other than that the fresh, medium-bodied wine was well-balanced. Despite its youth it already indicated its class and a bright future. Over night the wine became juicier and it drank even better on day two. Naturally, this Bienenberg “R” 2011 was not on par with the Wildenstein “R” 2011 we had a couple of weeks ago, but it still outclassed most of its peers from Baden in terms of elegance and drinkability. Retry in 2017. 91+ for now, with good potential to improve. 91+

  During a Bernhard Huber tasting (Tanglin Club, Singapore). Medium ruby. Much more earthy, foresty nose than the Pinot 2011 before. On the palate deeper both in structure and aroma, more Chambertin than Vosne in style. Will probably benefit from a bit of cellaring but can be drunk now. 91-92
