I forgot I had this bottle and when I found it, I wasn’t sure what to expect. 2011 was a challenging vintage—in some vineyards, brix was low because of the cool summer and fall. But this was delicious, very approachable with supple fruit and fine tannins. Perhaps not as complex as some, but absolutely ready for consumption and unlikely to improve.

Light red, dull edge. Stemmy, smoky aromatics, although the longer it sat out, the more it showed a cola/sweet fruit aspect. Medium weight, lovely red fruit with some earth. Very good.

I had not tasted a WillaKenzie wine in a number of months, and this bottle reminded me how much I enjoy these wines. Consistently good pinot noir, no matter the vineyard. The Kiana is a lighter, but still elegant, expression of the pinot noir grape than their other vineyards.
