Purchased as part of a potentially over-the-hill mystery case from The Wine Society, and luckily very much 'still got it' rather than 'past it'. Deepish yellow, like it needed to hydrate itself better. Creamy and vaguely floral on the nose, with green, leafy, earthy vegetation and the undertone of something mysterious and herbal. Waxy and full-bodied on the palate, though also precise and energetic, the flavour profile being slightly exotic (but also showing notes of peach, wet stone and sassafrass) and the finish long and bittersweet. Rather too unusual to drink every week, but certainly feel as though I got my money's worth.

Still going strong. Beautiful gold colour. Big nose of honey, quince, roasted nuts, verbena, tropical fruits, early grey tea … intoxicating. Musky. Waxy. Luscious and mouth filling with a very long slightly bitter finish. Still in perfect balance. The high alcohol is not noticeable.

Pretty nasty. Should have been opened at least 6 or 7 years ago. A little awkward as 2 bottles offered as a gift a couple of weeks ago (March ‘20), tasted not much better than an average bottle of sherry.

(M. Chapoutier Hermitage Blanc Chante-Alouette) Light green tinged yellow color; reduction, sulfur nose; creamy textured, oak, tart apple, green fruit, mineral, cinnamon palate; medium-plus finish (more shut down than last time I had it)
