Impressive structure with minor sediment, it's made in an unfiltered / classic style, but the alcohol (15% +) is racing past the fruit and it will probably overwhelm the whole show in a few years; although there is still enough dark spices, black pepper, saddle leather, tannin & oak to override the problem. It benefits from a short decant (2-3 hours). It's a very enjoyable and exuberant CdP and well worth the cost.

Plum, raisin, blackberry, fresh mint and smoke. Intense fruit nose, meaty nuiance and smooth texture in tongue. Shame I drank this up too fast. It show the quality after 3+ hrs and goes up and up.

Similar to last bottle 3 years ago, this still seems young. Leathery tannins, boysenberry, tobacco. Decanted for 1/2 hour and not much change over 3 hours.

En Magnum, this wine did not disappoint, as I always love Janasse and its style. This was still drinking young at first but opened up wonderfully after an hour or so, revealing a wall of blackberries, garrigue, faint oak, nutmeg, burned tobacco. Great wine to have at a party as it is assertive enough that it won't get lost in the crowd without being overoaked or cloying.

Not rated because the bottle felt a bit oxidized. Deep flavors, black fruits and plums, forest undertones, medium+ tannins and medium acidity and medium long ending. It felt like a very aged wine even on day 2, nice color notwithstanding. Maybe a slightly off bottle. I am sure a good one would have been enjoyable - very much so.
