  • This is still great and it was such a treat to be able to drink it at 51 years (the wine and me).
Thinning appearance, of course, but with a still dense core and pretty robust-looking. Hues of dried blood and polished mahogany, but still plenty of red.
Initial nose of polished leather, then mushrooms (or maybe truffle), wood sap and wet dog. But still some prominent fruit - black fruits with strawberry.
Soft and silky in the mouth but still lively. Masses of fruit still, some it pretty sharp: raspberries, redcurrants - there's almost a simplicity. Possibly a little aniseed/pastis. The sharp fruit - raspberries - lingers well into the very long finish
