Light ruby color with brilliant clarity and no sediment. The nose is quite timid, just hints of dried cherry, lavender, and herbs. Light to medium structure with an elegant mouthfeel. Again, the bouquet is demure and a little closed up on the palate so I wonder if I should've waited another year or so. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful and sincere expression of Sangiovese, which is what I had hoped for, and it reinforces in my mind the possibility for the grape in Central Cali. I have yet to be disappointed by Ch Margene. 5+10+17+8= 90

excellent, well-rounded wine. perfect with artisan pizzas. nice brown color and nose impresses from the start and finishes strong with multiple layers.

S: smells like a 2 spider basement. Thin in body but extremely well balanced. Musty mushrooms with dusty cherry.
R: moss and manure on nose. Thin body, cherry wood smoke and vinegar, tart finish.
A: smell of tomato, very light smoke like cigar. Peat. Very smooth, more spicy on the front of the tongue than tannic.

Fruit was "sour" tasting and the tannins were basically gone.
