Opens to bottle age aromas of dark red fruit, cherries, wet earth, and a whiff of leather. Soft and full bodied, nicely textured, shades of fruit sweetness mingle with some Tootsie Roll action and a kiss of brett. Solid overall.

This bottle was a gift . I have tasting notes on the same wine from 2014, and my thoughts /opinion have not changed. The bottle was opened for. ~ 2 hours, upright and decanted for an hour or so. The oak sits on top of this one. Cedar and vanilla dominate the nose plus cassis and mint/graphite . Does not overpower food (could be 2011 effect). Really well-balanced and juicy on the palate . Tannins present , but not at all overpowering . The finish is first rate. Not at all over-the-hill IMHO.

4th Saturday Brown Bagger (Eagle Brook CC): Double blind. Resembles K a bit in that there's some weedy notes but there's also something a bit sour at first. Currant and black fruit, this has a bit of a greenness to it as well.
Good but the vintage shows a bit here as the fruit didn't fully ripen. Decent, if you don't mind the fruit profile. (R&S)

Cloudy, deep garnet with some rim browning. Tar, burnt toast, fig. Low acids, medium tannins. Black cherry. Short balanced finish.
