Dark red, almost black. Crimson edge. Looks younger than it is. Smells like pencil, blackcurrent and smoke. Dinstinctive blach current taste. Middle length. Low acidity. Needs some air. Still young.

Sadly this bottle was very tired, despite a pristine fill and cork. Nose held promise - sultry black fruit, cool wet clay, and a hint of vanilla. Palate is tired, showing thin, attenuated fruit - just a bit of blackberry jam, and astringent woody tannins.

Great place now. Real depth and complexity which is why Meyney, when left for a couple of decades becomes such a great value purchase. Perhaps not the greatest and one recent bottle was "flat" but nevertheless a real treat

A decent Bordeaux, reasonably priced. Had good fruit and soft tannins. Nose of black currant.
