Surprisingly fresh. Very fresh with hint of some buttery notes. Flowers and a hint of petrolium. Super nice. Opened up after 30-60 minutes in the bottle. Would buy again!

2012 TENUTA dell`ORNELAIA POGGIO alle GAZZE- yellow gold colour; announced as being 100% Sauvignon Blanc, but information I found indicates it`s got 10% Viognier; regardless of the content, the context was wonderful; the aromatics jumped out of the glass with large dollops of minerality, grapefruit and lemon lime notes followed by a taste profile of more of the same plus some ripe peach butter in the flavour as well as its creamy rich texture; a mouthful of joy.

PnP, and let warm a bit. Would never have guessed Sauvignon Blanc if tasted blind, but use of oak, and time on lees (stirred) have shifted the wine's presentation. Some floral notes on the nose from the viognier (10%), but no typical SB notes. Palate is heavier and rounder than expected, with stone fruits, a bit of lemon, some minerality, and acidity to balance. Should be good for another couple of years.

90% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Viognier. Very thin on the nose. On the palate, there is honey/apricot. Medium - finish.
Armit tasting.
