{screwcap, 13.5%} Rich, rotting strawberries. Pastrami. Spice. Unmistakeably pinot, but not too overt or obvious. Has a dark, slightly malty character to the flavours; the palate is medium/full-bodied, there are fine dusty tannins, but gentle and soft, and medium acidity, not screeching. It seems warmer and heftier than the alcohol suggests; the finish is medium length. I'm a bit each-way on real complexity with further cellaring; this feels like its about as good at is gets somehow. Lovely to drink, and with some development with bottle age; this is very good. Not great burgundy, though.

At J&A's, blind. Stood out in it's flight for the pepper and bacon fat notes on the nose, more like syrah than pinot but not unattractive. Sturdy fruit on the midpalate with a touch of cedar. My 2nd fave in the flight.

Pinotpalooza (Carriageworks, Redfern): slight red currant, sweet spice, very slight stalky notes and biscuit…juicy, fleshy, red fruit spectrum with some grip Okay

Six nations tasting (pyrmont wharf, sydney): stalks and ripe red cherry, spice, slightly funky…juicy, savoury tannins are restrained and the fruit persists, okay
