  • Based upon this bottle, I would have to conclude that my previous TN from October was based on a somewhat off bottle.

This wine is more typical of a Etna Rosso in terms of palate presence and fruit profile. Light- to medium-bodied, more red fruit than black, decent acidity. Not overly complex, but a satisfying wine that you don't have to think about as you toss back a glass or three.

  • Surprisingly dark translucent ruby in the glass - much darker than I would have expected for a Nerello-based wine.

Red fruits and menthol on the nose. Riper red fruit, tilting toward overripe. After that great glass of Vacelli, a little disappointing. Not bad per se, but a little atypical.

  • Clear, deep ruby red. Dark fruits and sweet spice on the nose. Black cherry, blackberry, fennel, cinnamon, baked overtones. On the palate, it is dry with medium plus acidity, fairly powerful grip as tannins are still high, medium plus body. Flavors of cherries, along with baking spices and anise, the fruit comes off as dried fruit, with some very light hints of prune and raisins. Finish is of medium length.
This is quite enjoyable but I wish I had decanted for at least two hours. At that point the tannins feel less aggressive and the wine is much more approachable. If you pop now, DECANT! Otherwise wait another 2 to 3 years, given the dried fruit notes, I doubt this will improve any further though.

  • Still very structured but balanced....really good wine here.

  • somewhat dark and murky, powerful, not much fruit, a little anise, raspberry, leather, pencil, this is wine that fits into a bloody steak, reminiscent of a Cahors or a slightly rustic petit chateaux of Bordeaux
