A couple from Fass (Our front patio): A Fass Selection wine. On opening there is a blast of black olives. Purple/ruby in color. The nose settles into a boysenberry with black olives and some bacon fat. Really nice. It keeps on improving all night. On the palate, this is somewhat lush, of course, I would expect that at this young age. Great texture. With air, the complexities come out. The last glass is the best. Right now, just a delicious, enjoyable wine. I think it should improve in the cellar with time. Caveat-my wife, who like big, Cal Syrahs, was less enthralled than I. She found the wine a bit "French/wimpy" for her tastes.

Oops, forgot I already opened one of these. Very much the same. Rich, salty red fruit with lots of bacon.

Up-front style. Plump, sweet red fruit with a twist of bacon. I wasn't expecting something so lush here.
