I probably held this bottle too long (my cellar is generally okay with non-sulfured wines, though), or maybe I didn't give it a fair chance, with a lot of other stuff on the table, but this one seemed bitter and off.

Day 1: bundle of fresh red fruits such as red cherry, raspberry, and clanberry. Ripe sweet volume. Finishes with nice lingering afternote. Austrian pinot-like.
Day 2: reminiscent of nebbiolo. Chewy tannin bite and acidity. Rose petal nose. Other elements are blueberry and cherry.

Starts out spritzy and needs a few good, vigorous shakes to smooth out to drinkability. Even then it is a little edgy, with some raspy tannin. It does a lot to civilize itself with air - at least an hour in the decanter is best. After that it's very nice and I can honestly say I have never had anything quite like it. It is full of fresh red fruit on the absolute cutting edge of ripeness in a Loire-like fashion, but I've had a lot of Sancerre rouge from pinot noir and they are nothing like this - this is almost something I would mistake for cabernet franc. All that said, there is nothing even hinting at greenness here. It has a sharpness and spine to it but the fruit is all vibrant red berries with a just-crushed freshness.

Marc and MJ's - another nice evening of wine and food (Bellingham, WA): A pleasant discovery, with nice red fruits, ample freshness and minerality. A nice bottle from the western Catskills of NY!
