  • This is the inaugural vintage of Bolt Cutter and was made as a nod to the "I only drink Napa Cab" crowd by this historically Rhone focused producer.
Decanted for about 20 minutes with some sediment. A deep dark ruby-violet to a faded rim. Still a bruiser of a wine and maybe a tad better than our previous bottle some 14 months ago (8/28/21) as it showed continuing development. My previous TN sums it up nicely:
Some nice dark red and blue fruits on the nose. On the medium to plus bodied palate there were dark red, blue and black fruits along with some spice. The acidity was juicy enough to balance the fruit and the tannins were resolved. Will probably hold for several more years, but quite enjoyable now, especially with some air.

  • 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petite Sirah, 27% Syrah, 6% Petit Verdot aged in 70% New French Oak for 22 Months.
Decanted off the above moderate sediment.
Aromas are as bold as previous years, just more developed and complex. Scents of grilled hanger steak, chocolate mole, rubbed herbs, black pepper, Dr. Pepper, muddled blackberry, plum, black currant, vanilla cream, Cohiba Pequenos Black Cigar, Black coffee, worn leather, forest floor and hints of floral pastilles.
Mouth-filling and full tannins on the palate come in play with above-moderate acidity. Rich flavors coat the palate in notes of smashed black berries, plum, black currant, grilled steak, cocoa, coffee, leather, tobacco, herbs, pepper, cola, earth and vanilla. the finish lingers with grip.

  • Slo-oxed for ~30 minutes, which definitely helped to open this bruiser of a wine. As EvanJB said - it is a blend of Cab Sauv, Syrah, Petit Syrah, and Petit Verdot. A dark purple color with a faded rim. Some nice dark red and blue fruits on the nose. On the medium to plus bodied palate there were dark red, blue and black fruits along with some spice. The acidity was juicy enough to balance the fruit and the tannins were resolved. Great match for a platter of various lamb and beef preparations. Will probably hold for several more years, but quite enjoyable now. Thank you, Russ.

  • Wonderful right now, far from end of life. Great blend of Cab, Syrah, Petit Syrah and Petit Verdot, enjoyable by itself and with chocolate
