Porseleinberg Masterclass by Callie Louw (Koetshuis, de Mauritshoeve, Bilthoven): For Porseleinberg, 2012 is a vintage for drinking now or over the next few years. Compared to the 2010 and 2014, this is more advanced in its development than it should be. There is less fruit and more tannin than 2010 and there are also more tertiary notes.

I thought this was very good. Dark fruit, a little spice, beautifully integrated tannins. Very smooth and balanced. Many years of life still ahead of it but I’m not sure it will get much better with time.

No decant... aromatics are still a touch subtle. Lots of herbs so much so kind of reminds me of Languedoc garrigue. It's got a massive mouthfeel and body with a finish that comes in two waves and is very long which only goes to support the wines quality.
For me the aromatics will improve (think ageing like a Cornas) and it has a while to hit it's sweet spot. The body and fruit is concentrated and oozing with quality, just needs to come together.
Look at this again in 2020...

Complex nose, dark and red fruit, smoked meat, spices, hints of floral notes, but also a slightly unpleasant impression of burnt rubber. On the palate quite tight and drying - there is good fruit, a very attractive herbal character, great freshness, but a slightly bitter finish. Long and powerful finish. I would give this a couple of more years in the cellar, but I am not convinced. 88-90+(+?)
