  • WSET, Level 1; 5/27/2017-5/28/2017 (The Vineyard at Florence, Florence, TX): Blind tasting. Very light texture and body, garnet color. Lots of upfront earthy aromas with tart cranberries, spicy raspberries, and juicy strawberries on the palate with a dose of wet earth. Noticeable acidity on the tongue supporting a medium plus finish. Very nice Bourgogne.

  • after awhile and a good decant the bitterness starts to subside slightly but its still present. I did finally get a decent finish on it though
    Decanted:
FINISH- slight spiciness with acid and fruits hanging in there with the bitterness. (still light and thin.)

I'd change my rating because this is still better than most california $10 pinot's but I cant with that bitterness and where this wine is from.

  • Nose - a very pleasent sweet nose of cherry pie filling and strawberry jam. Tiny hint of terrier and rhubarb.

Taste- sweet, light, decent texture with good lifting acidity and sweet strawberry jam and rhubarb raspberry flavours.

Finish- (mid palate too) thin, quick bitter and ever so slightly dry.

For $10 retail this isn't a bad bottle of wine so I give it a 75. But where this wine losses points is in it's mid-palate and finish idk what happened with the 2013 maybe it's just too young still but it just has this off putting bitter tinge that completely ruins the nice flavour profile and that was the demise of this bottle.
Disappointing coming from "Nuits-Saint George's" from the cotes D'or region... Everything was right except that nasty bitterness.
