Lovely mature wine, this bottle might be just past peak. Little acidity left and mostly forest floor earthiness with a bit of sweet overtones. I’d say drink up.

Pnp. Dark cranberry body looking great in glass. Nose is potent: of pencil shavings, blackberry, mocha, breeze from a lavender field. Very bordeaux-esque, leaning left bank. Texture is glorious and unique, just short of viscous but not feeling oily in anyway. It is rich but earthy, which belies the palate flavors: cranberry and cassis, yes but also earth root, dust, dry chili, wet bark, and forest floor (in a smooth, fecund way). Long, dry, and complex finish.
This is a great wine. I literally can picture Chilean landscape when I take a sip and close my eyes. Nice vintage too. Not young or old, just in its prime. Drink now or hold 3 more years.

I'm starting to lose objectivity on Clos Apalta. I haven't had one that I didn't enjoy on a gut level. This one's more "rural" than the others I've tried. Inky black fruit is a constant, but I also get coffee, corn, mustard (?), and fresh dirt on the nose. The palate is slick, tart, and shedding tannins, and it shows more black fruit and some chocolate. The mid-length finish seems to bring the coffee back. It's ready to drink now, but I can see it holding steady for another eight or ten years. (The outer window of 2026 seems too early.)

Maybe over the hill.
What was there was good... leather sauce, spice, some veggies.
