Drank this over 3 nights and it showed no signs of falling over. Bright and refreshing with a developing texture, excellent length and concentration, an effortless feel to it. Hoddles Creek doing great stuff with Chardonnay.

Welcome to modern Australian Chardonnay! Bouquet of white nectarine, cashew and wet slate. Smells powerful! Nothing tropical about the palate (apart from some guava at the finish). Balanced white stonefruit and grapefruit (for me balance means stonefruit edges grapefruit in the fruit profile = not too acidic). Light nutty oak. Textured and full, but not heavy. Aspects of all the flavour profiles mingle and linger on the medium to long finish. Bravo! I expect this will get better with time! Will leave the remaining two for at least a couple of years.

Another fine effort from Hoddles Creek although I think the 2012 pips this. Feels a little leaner and certainly more closed and doesn't feel like it has quite the depth of the previous vintage. It may be splitting hairs but will try and stay away from the last couple of bottles to see if they generate more interest and complexity with a bit of age.

Okay, but felt a bit like a solid chardonnay rather than one would expect of a 1er. Probably at its best a few years ago.
