  • Really enjoyed this wine with a lot of black fruits and some leather. I opened tasted and decided not to decant but did serve with a aerator. The finish started off long with sweet fruits but seemed to diminish by the end of the meal a lot so think drink them up.

  • Prior bottle was 18 months ago and this wine continues to show quite well. Black cherry, some black raspberry and cigarbox notes on the nose. Not quite as deeply aromatic as previously, but especially once i opens up, still quite pretty. Just above medium bodied, but gains noticeable depth and density through the middle. Flavor profile was quite similar to prior bottle with rounded black cherry upfront, adding some red cherry hints through the middle along with a touch of black raspberry before moving to plum. Fells a touch more open and expressive upfront and through the initial part of the mid-body. Retains balanced tannic structure on the backside as well as tart, mixed cherry, spices, earth and minerals. Perhaps not as lush as my prior bottle, but still feels like it can continue to evolve positively with more integration and expression in future years. Next bottle for me, Fall 2024.

  • Deep black raspberry, black cherry and classic cigarbox notes on the nose. Between medium and full bodied (14.5% ABV) with black cherry upfront, adding black raspberry and deep plum through the middle. More balanced and open upfront than I was expecting and very pretty, rounded, expressive and deep through the middle. Good tannic structure on the backside, coupled with acidity, tart black and red cherry and then lingering spice, minerals and earth through the finish. This wine has a bit more depth than the 2010 La Serena from last night and they are nearly equally expressive while the La Serena might have slight edge in complexity and longer term prospects. After 4.5 hours open, this was showing beautifully with deep fruit, balanced structure and very good overall integration. As well as it's showing today, I think it will continue to improve along these lines and I'll plan to open my next bottle in Q2 2023.

  • Sour cherry and some tannic to start. Softened quite nicely over 2 hours and it was more delicate and some complexity came out.

  • Special occasion wine. Decanted at 3pm. Drank slowly from 7:15pm. Kept on getting better. Very pronounced tannins. Not over bearing though - beautifully done. Very nice finish. Nose was not overwhelming. My type of brunello
