  • After an hour decant, I get a nose of leather, BBQ, and some burnt match and the nose changes over time and is quite pronounced. This is a serious old school Bordeaux and the palate is filled with dark red cherry, sweet tart cranberry, acerola cherry, and a dusty bit of cocoa. The tannins are almost fully resolved with a grippiness on the finish which is short but enjoyable. This wine is in or past the window of enjoyment but still showing good right now. There is no reason to hold it any longer so drink up

  • A decanter absolument. Après la première heure, encore fermé, presque agressif. Puis s’ouvre sur des arômes longs, structurés. Tannins présents mais équilibrés. Le lendemain encore meilleur, délié, arômes fluides. Encore un très grand potentiel de garde.

  • Since last being tasted 11/7/2015, the 2000 La Garde has buffed some of its rough edges and is now far more drinkable. Deep-to-opaque garnet and loaded with black raspberry liqueur on both the nose and palate, it adds notes of Montmorency cherries, anise, black olives, allspice and loamy earth. Full-bodied and with medium-to-high acidity, its previously-astringent tannins have simmered down a bit. The alcohol (13%) is fully integrated and the wood is likewise well-woven. Solid on the middle palate, it proceeds to a medium-length, borderline acerbic finish. This is heading in the right direction, but it still cannot be described as "charming." If you have the room in your cellar, I would favor giving it more time. That said, there are no guarantees with this particular wine, so consumption anytime throughout this decade seems appropriate. Drink now-2030.

  • (Decanted for one hour)
Deep red colour with a maturing nose showing leather, cedar wood and liquorice in a very pleasant way. Still showing a nice tannins structure on the palate with fresh fruit and with a very nice bad lengthy finish. This was drinking very nicely right now, but should keep well for another decade.

  • Still plenty of fruit and freshness tannins soft as silk and hints of plum and sweet stone fruits not fading yet so no hurry - great length
