Looking for something to go with a bit of smoky porky goodness emanating from our new compact smoker, my eye fell upon this picked up some three and a half years ago on a voyage through the Russian River. Dry Creek could well deliver the goods. I had not remembered the wine at all but it transpired to present and abundance of rich, ripe brambly fruit, almost a little bit syrupy - that characteristic syrah-ian smoothness, particularly when the ripeness is up. A lush enjoyable drink - have to confess somewhat preferred to the syrah from its relatively near neighbor Porter Creek. I think the little bit of zinfandel thrown into the mix may help in that regard.

Tasting along the Westside Road (Healdsburg and its environs): Slightly confusing split personality with the VML labels as Bradford Mountain is also made by VML. This syrah has a little zinfandel added and has nice dark brambly fruit. Dulcie invested in a bottle. With her own money no less.
