disappointing for the price--could easily be a $35-50 wine..soft, decent length and complexity...missing some flavor complexity, dark/sour cherry, hints of graphite and tobacco, herbs...

Teaspoon of sediment, opaque purplish red. Nose is initially closed - hint of vanilla, earth. Appealing on the palate, nice balance, fruit followed by acid and then tannin. It took about 3h of decanting to come into its own. By 4h it's fairly primary and cab-forward: cherry, mint, mushrooms. In contrast to other I still found the nose somewhat hidden. Nicely made, a pleasure to drink, but lacking the "wow" factor.

As a general rule, I do not buy much second label or satellite wine as I call it, but for Latour I purchased a case about 4 years ago. The first bottle I opened 2 years ago was closed despite a long decant. Last year was a little better, but still a bit of a disappointment. However, I opened a bottle over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised to see this wine open up with a short decant. If you can buy this wine now I think you will enjoy it over the next 5 years or longer.

Similar to my prior tasting note. This is still a bit young and needs to put on some weight and tertiary characteristics. Hold for 3 more years.

I get some leather on the nose, leather on the pallet too, , very earthy with minimal fruit. Kind of a little bretty, might be flawed.
