Fida's Private lunch with Philippe Guigal and Ralph Garcin (Gramercy Tavern): My personal favorite of the CdPs and one of my favorite wines of the whole weekend not least because it was my biggest surprise of the weekend. I like aged wine and generally more aged than others but I would not have guessed that a negotiant CdP from Guigal could be tasty almost 60 years later (esp since we had the 78 Hermitage a few weeks ago and it was over the hill). Just goes to show you what good storage can do. This was herbal and spices and maybe that is tarragon? Not totally sure but there was some 'exotic spice' style going which was really interesting.

Remarkable high-fill bottle from an incredible collector’s cellar. Funky nose of a true Rhône, with barnyard, leather, and currant. A friend tells me this may be near 16%. Medium body, with rich and round red and black fruit notes and more leather. Amazing, especially at age 52.

Chateauneuf du Pape Tasting (Boston): Medium red with some browning. Soft tannins. Spice. Drinking well but has probably started its slow decline.
