After so many disappointing 1976s as we finish up the wines I bought for my son birth year, this was a lovely last hurrah. Good cork. Colour browning but not inappropriate for age. Nose didn’t want to be picked apart as is true IMO of many old wines. Still if you used a nice pair of leather gloves to macerate blackberries you might be close. Flavours frail at opening but came on throughout the evening

TN: Dinner at Tiny Lou's: PnP. Small glass. A bit dense and disjointed for me. Also my pour was from the end of the bottle and was a bit cloudy. Earlier pours seemed to be fresher. Enjoyed the Jordan much more.

This was very good. Beautiful purity of fruit. Persistent finish. Had next to a 78 LLC and 80 Mouton and this had the most complete package. Interestingly, the LLC had more gravel/tar character than this one. Just a wonderful mature bottle of claret. Essentially a PNP, and drank over 4 hours.

1976 CHATEAU LA MISSION HAUT-BRION PESSAC-LEOGNAN- another aged winner, this had a huge spicy aroma with hints of leather, cedar and cigar box complimenting the black currant fruit in the taste; it held up and finished as it started; a mild bit of sweetness came in late; enjoyable mature Bordeaux.
