Tar and roses, lots of tar and lots of roses. In the mouth it’s cherries fresh and bright, with contrasting savory, meaty, earthy notes in the mouth. Tannins are resolved. I’d drink this in the next few years, the sooner the better, probably.

At 13.2pct alc it's light and still lavish, with a lushious leathery pallate and notes of lavender. This is an elegant wine that beautifully displays the fragrant Mataro which is an underappreciated grape and always offers a sweet tooth of sugar plum and soft caressing texture with no hard edges anywhere. That said I think El Nido Clio is a better wine. Whilst the latter is grown in Spain's Jumilla I make the connection because both are made by Australia's most brilliant wine makers and the main grape of Clio is Monastarell ie Mataro to Aussies, but the added third of cab sav unearths a greater multi dimensionality for Clio and improved weight.

Wow. Very disappointing. Heavy sour cognac nose. Sour on palette and not drinkable I think we waited too long or it was defective to begin with
