Heady aroma of black fruits and oak. Rich black currant and blackberry flavors with gritty tannins. This is chunky and clumsy. It's a big mouthful of wine that many will find satisfying, but it lacks symmetry, balance and elegance. Doubtful to improve but should last 6-8 more years given its size and volume. 88

Newton very consistantly delivers rich and layered cab. Nice notes of creosote, tobacco, brambly fruit. Even at 14.5% alc it's very well integrated and not overblown. For its' price it punches above its' weight. At the price it's probably viewed as a cellar defender but if you can save a few for 7 to 10 years post vintage you'll be rewarded.

Decanted for 60 minutes. Unlike the bottle I had last year, it was fully open at that point. Otherwise, pretty much the same as previous bottle. Medium bodied with dark fruit and moderate oak. Very nice wine for the price.

Decanted for one hour. Initially still a little tight, but opened nicely over the next 15-20 minutes. Medium bodied with dark fruit and moderate oak. Very nice wine for the price.
