Decanted for 2.5 hours. Vibrant dark cherry color. Black cherries, tobacco, anise on the nose. Lush, intense fruit, black cherries, blackberries, tobacco, anise. Great texture. Still big tannins. Great acidity and balance. There is a certain sweetness to the fruit. Finishes long and dark fruited. The wine becomes softer and sweeter with food, the tannins soften (the class Cab pairing, a New York Strip and baked potato). Develops a lovely texture, soft, almost plush. No heat. Drink over the next 10 years.

Improved after a 30 minute decant. Aromatic with blackberry, spice, anise, and a touch of cedar. Medium body. Flavors of black and blue fruits, anise, spice , vanilla and black pepper. Not showing any tertiary character yet. The tannins have softened nicely leading to a smooth finish.
