  • I had my issues with bottle quality and cork consistency some years ago, but the remaining bottles Of this 2001 are now getting better and better. This one again a step up, with tannings now starting to be fully melted, succulent salinity outbalancing the ripe sweetness of this classic St estephe and spice and forest floor notes making the bed for a lingering finale. Great wine in the right place at the moment. An hour of decant benefits the wine.

  • Youthful still, needs to be decanted, but pleasant wine for hearty fare such as grilled flank steak

  • Pronounced nose intensity with notes of coffee, chocolate, black fruits, toast, spices. Medium+ acidity and medium+ tannin.

  • 4th of 12, opened 30 minutes then decanted an hour, perfect cork and level, slightly rounder than last bottle in 2020, but I still find it over oaked and over extracted with harsh tannins giving it a slightly unbalanced feel in a vintage where most wines show beautiful balance, it's an ok drink but disappointing for Cos, I thought more time would help resolve some of the issues but not so sure now, 15+ years. VG+ (16.5).
