Full Pull Instant Gratification 7 of 8: Oregon Pinot Reoffer, 12/22/2017

(Roserock Drouhin Oregon Pinot Noir) Holiday Pickup Schedule REMINDER: Please take note of our schedule below for the end of 2017 and beginning of 2018: Dec 21-23: Open 11am-7pm Dec 28-30: CLOSED Jan 4-6: CLOSED Jan 11-13: Open 11am-7pm ---- Hello friends. As you can see from the schedule above, we have just two pickup days (including today) remaining in 2017. Over the past week, we’ve instituted a new series of offers to close out the year: our Instant Gratification series. For the remainder of December, all our offers will be for wines that are already in the warehouse and ready for immediate pickup. No need to wait until mid-January; these wines are here, delicious, and looking for happy homes for the holidays. Today’s offer contains familiar wines—reoffers of two Oregon Pinots. Earlier this year, we were able to secure excellent pricing for both of these wines by committing to large parcels. Via original offers and subsequent reorders, we’re getting down close to last-call territory on the pair, either of which would make a fine gift for any lover of Pinot Noir.Originally offered October 3rd, 2017, and we’ve sold through 85% of our original parcel. Excerpts from the original offer: Note that our TPU tag is in line with the lowest prices found nationally (release price was $35). Our long-time support of DDO coupled with the estate’s anniversary allowed us this opportunity. Domaine Drouhin bought their first 225-acre Oregon estate in the Dundee Hills in 1987. Veronique Drouhin (the force behind DDO’s greatness) had just graduated from the University of Dijon and completed the 1986 harvest with Adelsheim, Bethel Heights, and Eyrie Vineyards. At that moment in time, the future of this family was so clearly Oregon. Now, 30 years later, DDO is releasing wines from their newest parcel of land—a 279-acre vineyard called Roserock in the Eola-Amity Hills. As the inaugural vintage, the 2014 Pinot Noir is setting the stage for what Roserock will be. The vintage? Classic Oregon. A long, warm growing season lead to an abundant (and welcome) harvest. After 2013, which proved a little more difficult for many Oregon producers, 2014 was a redemption vintage. Roserock Drouhin couldn’t ask for a better debut. This bottle opens with a wonderfully spiced, intense nose of plum, red and black cherry, dried flowers, and savory earth. The palate continues with elegant intensity. Notes of dark fruit take over, followed by flower petals and stoney minerality. The finish is long and strong, with a deep sense of authority. It’s dark and beautiful throughout. James Suckling: Copyrighted material withheld. View From the Cellar (John Gilman): “The first vintage of pinot noir from the Drouhin family’s new Roserock project is quite lovely in 2014. The wine offers up a deep and youthful nose that still shows a bit of whole cluster influence in its complex mix of red and black cherries, vinesmoke, lovely dark soil tones, a dollop of fresh thyme and a discreet framing of cedary wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, nascently complex and nicely sappy at the core, with fine transparency, tangy acids, fine-grained tannins and impeccable balance on the long, focused and very promising finish. This wine shows superb backend energy and will be dynamite with a bit of bottle age. A very auspicious beginning! 2020-2050. 92+pts” [Context note: this is fantastic review from Gilman, whose main focus is European wines and who is known as a particularly exacting critic.]

Full Pull Anniversary Week 3 of 5: 30 Years In Oregon, 10/4/2017

(Roserock Drouhin Oregon Pinot Noir) Hello friends, and thanks for joining us as Anniversary Week continues! Full Pull launched about eight years ago, on October 5, 2009, and we use the occasion of our anniversary week to blast out some of our most compelling offers of the year. This is the third in a planned quintet of Anniversary Week offers. As you’ll read more this week, Full Pull finds itself in good company when it comes to anniversaries. Perhaps it’s something in the water in the Pacific Northwest that gives us all the crazy idea to follow our dreams, never mind the odds. And maybe there’s something in the water in Eastern France, too—something that connects these geographically distant places—because today we are honoring the 30th anniversary of Domaine Drouhin Oregon, Burgundy’s finest’ Oregon outpost. Domaine Drouhin Oregon (DDO) has a long and deeply developmental history when it comes to the Willamette Valley’s Pinot production. (You can read about it in Full Pull’s inaugural DDO offering, which reached some of your inboxes over six years ago). Today, in honor of the benchmark producer’s 30th anniversary, we are going to talk about the next chapter of DDO.Originally offered October 3rd, 2017, and we’ve sold through 85% of our original parcel.
