  • D+0h: a tiny, tiny, tiny bit of deposit in the filter and some chunks in the bottle, smells of raspberry and cherry D+4h: dark as ink, smells of blackberry and raspberry, full fleshy body, smooth in the mouth, in the mouth blackberry and strawberry, in the aftertaste blackberry and acidity, good length (30 sec.), not a complex wine, yet a very tasty one and value for money

  • I like this wine. Partially because we’ve been to the Douro, but also because for the price, it’s pretty decent. Black cherry, clove, espresso, earth, somewhat resolved tannins. Rustic, dark, structured. For $9, this one is a no brainer. Popped and poured. Will probably improve a bit with age.

  • Beautifully and intensely concentrated. Dark fruits and structure. This level of austerity is rarely available in the sub-$15 price range.

  • Chewy and structured. Nice wood spice and red fruit. Some sour cherry/tartness on the finish from the fresh acidity, but boy, that structure. Best enjoyed with a little food!

  • Deep ruby/light purple color. Aromas cherry pie and juicy plums, with some incense sticks, charcoal and scorched earth. Nice and tart on the palate with dusty/light tannins on a full-bodied wine (14.5%), but there’s plenty of sour cherry and black currant fruit. Notes of pencil lead, charcoal and coffee grounds. This is ready to drink but could hold two years or so, I could see this being a perfect Portuguese red for a by-the-glass list at a restaurant/wine bar. A blend of Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz, aged nine months in French oak.
