  • Second wine of Chateau d'Issan. I had 1999 last year and I liked it( 94 points). Let's see what's good or bad about this juice.
    🕙⏰
    An hour in the decanter.
Tasting blind I would say it's St.Emilion wine. A lot of black coffee, black chocolate and tobacco in taste. Hmm...
    Let's start from the beginning.
The smell isn't definitely from the Right Bank. Delicate, finesse, perfumed. Flowers, earth, forest, mild tobacco, mix of red and black fruits ( soft and delicate).
Taste - as I wrote above. I drink 3rd glass
...and I got the same load of black coffee, black chocolate and tobacco. Plus black currant ( o yes!), plum, spice( almost from the beginning to the end).
Pretty long finish with spice, tobacco, red currant.
Nice, vivid acidity and perfect tannins.
Shortest description - thick and heavy 🙂
2015 vintage got 94 points according to the WA Vintage Guide.Outstanding. Early maturing and accessible

  • Ikke dekantert. Småpen, smal, behag. Samme dag 3. Mørk. Behagelig bitterhet/stilk?

  • This wine is going to be epic. Still very early but the nose is beautiful and the fruit is somewhat muted. Tannins are quite evident but not overwhelming. It’s got the structure to go for decades. Will wait at least 15 years to open my next bottle.

  • These are terrific for the price at under $30. Second label for Chateau d'Issan. Easy to sip, and great with filet mignon at home on a Sunday. High notes are more present than low, and the wine exhibits medium-bodied, red fruity characteristics that are easy to enjoy. There is enough tannin to round out the profile. Nothing bad to complain about here.

  • My previous notes hold true. Quite a nice sipper. This still registers as a bit rustic, but maybe slightly softer than my memory recalls from the last bottle I opened. Very enjoyable and worthy of a Friday evening with friends. For a second wine, quite good.
