Superb ! No light passes through the wine but this is not the black wine of Cahors ;) Full of fruit and other flavours (ok: cigar box, liquorice, chocolate, vanilla , and orange liqueur ) It seems to benefit from the respect of decanting 5 or 10 minutes before the first attempt at appreciation so that it may then be seen to develop further .

Joel's Tuscan Lunch (The wilds of Kent): Decanted in advance. I'd very much enjoyed the 2018 of this so was looking forward to try this. Nose gives soft ripe plum, florals, some balsamic and tomato - all very moreish sapid. Really deep rich on the attack and mid palate, dark plum but fresh and sapid, present but powdery tannins. Perhaps the finish a little light but it had set high expectations. Good value and keen to try more

(Podere Poggio Scalette Il Carbonaione Alta Valle della Greve IGT) Saturated, very dark red violet color; aromatic, dried cherry, chocolate, mocha nose; tight, intense, dried cherry, mocha, dried currant, graphite palate with firm tannins and good balancing acidity; needs 5-plus years; long finish
