  Decanted for two hours. I was really surprised the nose was quite earthy, which I hadn’t found in other Bevan wines. The nose was full of forest floor, cedar, mushroom, and just a hint of dark berry. Amazingly, the real joy was on the palate. The wine was so powerful with a balanced sweetness and acidity. It’s not jammy at all. The long lasting was supported by a round and mature tannin. After tasted EE, Tench Cab, McGah, Sugarloaf, and showket Cabs, Harbison was the best for me. I believe this can hold more than a couple of decades, but nobody can possibly resist this fantastic wine. It will be interesting to taste my 14’ Harbison’s The trail and 16 Bevan’s Harbison later. Can’t wait!

  The 2014 Harbison is another titanic effort from Bevan. Saturated blue/black in color, the wine has intense camphor, charcoal, blueberry and blackberry aromas wrapped in some subtle toast and licorice, this full-bodied classic has off the charts richness and potential. Another Bevan victory!

  PnP with a quick redneck decant to impart additional air. Black as night. Inky without being viscous, yet a heavy mouthfeel.
  
  My first thought was Wow—did this get 100 pts somewhere? Turns out, nope! No rough edges, harmonious over the extended palate. On open a touch of acidic fruit that lay down to expose blueberry and crushed blackberry with a hint of fresh cream. Fruit in the forefront, but in no way fruity. Black cherry and black raspberry bring up the back of the palate. Coffee, mocha, saline, charred embers, hint of perfumed smoke on the nose. Smooth fine grained tannins hold up the backbone perfectly. A long finish that danced from the back of my tongue to my mid palate and back again. About an hour in, crushed fresh blueberries dance forever in the finish. What a ride. This is simply a wine where everything comes together. There are no flaws here. If you have multiples, open one now and enjoy the ride. In the zone with years left.

  Mrs Geaux used the words, ‘nice, really nice’ which is code for I’m not going to admit how good this is and will sneak a glass or two when you’re not looking.

  This is easily my favorite Bevan wine. Gobs of fruit but short of overt sweetness. Relatively fine tannins. Dark fruits, cocoa. The best part is a graphite/tar note that emerges late with a nice acidity.
