  • Mike G. does Cleveland (Landerwood Pool & Tennis): Golden in color. The nose is great with lychees and apricots and simple syrup. On the palate, there is a nice acidity here. Lychees and apricots. Sweet but not overtly. Long finish. Really a very nice showing.

  • Cost $23 for a half bottle. My first experience of a late harvest Gewürztraminer. I like late harvest wines! Very impressively deep, dark brown colour (darker than olive oil, as dark as maple syrup, with a hint of molasses colour), enhanced by the age of this wine. Aroma of concentrated sugar cane juice and light molasses. Flavour to match. However, a slight strangeness to the flavour. This wine is still drinkable, but is surely past its apogee.

    Per the hard-to-read label:
Produced and bottled by De Loach. Alcohol 11% by volume. Residual sugar 20% by weight. Harvest sugar 42 degrees brix.

    Per www.deloach.com:
DeLoach Vineyards’ Late Harvest Gewürztraminer is made only in those years when the growing conditions allow the grapes to develop the rich qualities necessary for this style of wine. The fruit is hand harvested from the 4 acre vineyard behind the winery, and fermented in stainless steel tanks at an average of 50°F for 50 days.
