Dark red/purple body and rim. Massive nose, of dark fruit and wood and leather - generally earthy. The palate holds up as well. Fine tannins that are still grippy. Nice balance with some strong acidity gives it a long and wonderful linger. Nothing really complex about the wine, but delicious and fun to drink.

Decanted for an hour, and drank over the next 3. Decent wine, enjoyable at age 10, but not great and ultimately unmemorable. Not a great QPR at $25/5 oz. glass. Good tertiary flavors but the wine is not really concentrated or balanced. I would not buy it again at this price point, and I have one more bottle in the cellar. It doesn't have more than another 5 years left
Only my second time drinking a bottle of Cain Five (the 2017 was my first). Overall, a good wine. However, I feel the cab sauv and merlot were dwarfed by the cab franc and it ended up being a bit thin, texturally speaking. In my limited experience there was not much here to make me think it was coming back (I understand that fruit is the first to fade, but this was rather void of it - would have loved to taste this 5 years ago to compare).

Aerated. Nose has some great red and black fruit which is non-existent in the taste. Finished second glass four hours after opening. This time helped, but still underwhelmed. Pleasant bottle, but nothing I’d repeat again. . .if I didn’t have another bottle in the cellar.

Concentrated, dense and intense. Maybe hasn’t fully evolved but still very good. No brett as in some of the other vintages
