  • 92+ Picked up 3 years ago in Budapest Airport.

N: Overripe peach, fleshy dried apricot, peach syrup, a line of sharp bruised lemon, some sweet golden pear, tinned pineapple.

P: Taught and opulent at the same time. Massive, fresh, cold pineapple, with a zippy spine of tension, and a texture of grip. Acid is med+ leading to a fresh finish - no cloying sweetness here. Something leafy or stemmy herby, a bit wild. Wonderful contrast to the exuberant nose.

F: Clean, phenolic - green apple skins.

  • At a tasting. Brief note from memory. Served too cold for my liking. Nose and palate showed light tropical fruit and dried apricots and crystallized ginger. Good acidity keeps this from being sluggish, but it lacks the midpalate texture I love in these wines and didn't have a long driving finish. A pedestrian example of this style at best.
