The wine has discernible intensity with aromas of violet, stewed raspberry, cooked black plum, clove, vanilla, leather, earth, fig and mocha. It is balanced with medium acid, rounded but present tannins, high alcohol and a reasonably long finish. This is a very good wine even though it may not warrant a long conversation about its complexity.

Ruby at the core and still translucent enough to see all the way though in the tulip glass. Scents of vanilla, mocha, and boysenberry. The new oak is obvious on the palate as it leads into vanilla, cherry, and a lingering note of fig newtons on the finish. This is not the same quality wine that it used to be. I don't know what happened to this, but it used to be a special wine that offered real value. Now it's a good wine, it's not flawed or anything...but it's not special and anywhere near as complex as it used to be. I'm both disappointed and uninspired.

Very smooth and balanced. Juicy dark fruits, plum, blackcurrant, figs. Well balanced oak with flavours of cedar and some vanilla. A touch of spice on the finish.
